Foot Orthotics: We offer a wide variety of custom molded foot orthotics to treat an array of foot and ankle problems. Our practitioners are skilled in evaluating your condition under the guidance of a physicians diagnosis/prescription to best meet your needs. We take neutral casts or impressions of the foot and from that mold, produce a positive model that is rectified to correct or stabilize the foot and ankle complex. Many different materials are used to fabricate foot orthotics including plastics, foam combinations, carbon fiber, etc.

Ankle Foot Orthoses: We provide AFOs for a variety of diagnoses such as stroke, MS, Post Polio Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida just to name a few. We consult with the prescribing physician and physical therapists to determine which design will best meet your needs; Solid Ankle, Articulated, Floor Reaction are just a few designs. We can also add fun colors and transfer papers for young and old to get a bit of enjoyment from the brace one has to wear. Many professional sports teams and numerous cartoon characters are available and add a nice touch to any orthosis.

Knee Ankle Foot Orthoses: Just like AFOs , there are many different KAFO components available to design an orthosis of this level. A KAFO is an orthosis that addresses significant knee instability and allows a person to stand with the knee locked or supported in an extended position. Recently weight activated knee joints that allow a 'braking' mechanism for stability have been introduced onto the market. This knee joint allows a more normal gait pattern and does away with drop and bail type locks. The knee joint swings freely when unloaded and resists, or brakes, flexion while standing.

Spinal Orthoses: We offer a complete line of custom molded TLSOs, LSOs and CTLSOs. We also offer pre-fabricated devices for the same levels. The Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar and Sacral orthoses are designed to support the level of surgery that is performed or support the spine as it heals from a fracture. We use computer aided design in the fabrication of these custom molded devices. This allows for a quick and painless measuring system that allows us to fit the orthosis the next day. We pride ourselves on providing this type of service to our patients, therapists and physicians in the hospital setting. We have years of experience doing this, so the fit and function of the orthosis allow a patient to continue with the rehab process without any delay.

We find it advantageous to measure and fit these orthoses pre operatively when possible. Our practitioners have established relationships with our referring physicians that allow us to measure and/or cast many patients pre-operatively. Pre operative visits allow us to have custom or prefabricated spinal orthoses fit prior to a patient's surgery. Our practitioners have found that this helps to ease the patient's anxiety regarding their 'brace'. It also allows us to fit the orthosis when the patient is able to move more comfortably and we can better assess the fit and function of the brace. Patients can be more involved with their education at this time to properly don the orthosis and the wear and care instructions for the brace. We always provide the patient with verbal and written instructions on the use of their orthosis. We have found when given the chance to educate a patient on the use and purpose of the orthosis we fit them with, the wearing compliance greatly increases. Our practitioners always consult with the prescribing physician on what the protocol will be when fitting their patients with a prescribed orthosis.

Prosthetics: Ascent O & P offers a complete prosthetic service. We consult with patients, doctors and therapists, provide immediate post operative casting, preparatory and definitive prostheses and all the follow up necessary to ensure the fit of the prosthesis for the patient and assist the therapist in achieving their patient's rehab goals. We also offer a variety of educational tools; videos, text and website information for anyone interested in learning about prosthetics or brushing up on techniques and treatment modalities for someone confronted with an amputation.

Our practitioners stay current with the newest technologies and design all prostheses to meet the goals of the patient and rehab team. Whether a patient who has worn a prosthesis for many years and does not seek changes in their prosthetic design or patients who want the newest technologies to help them meet their vocation and a vocational needs.
